Asciilands is a free multiplayer browser game by Qaz: a shared world drawn in text, for a desktop or laptop browser. This unofficial wiki records the field guide, the current title-screen update, and the systems checked in the client. The game itself opens on the official Play page.

Field guide
The client calls this checklist the Frontier Field Guide. It is seven steps, and the finished line says you know the essential loop. The write-up is on Getting Started.
- Enter the frontier. Join the persistent world and establish your character.
- Gather a resource. Face a tree or rock and click to swing. Press F to gather fiber plants.
- Make a useful material. Open Crafting and turn a raw resource into a refined material.
- Leave an item on the ground. Open your inventory, select a stack, and drop one item.
- Recover a ground item. Stand near a visible item and pick it up again.
- Place your first structure. Use gathered materials to place a campfire or workbench.
- Reach another region. Use an exit or the world map to travel to a connected zone.
What's new
The title screen checked on 2026-10-23 calls the current bulletin The Tempered Update. These are the lines in that list, copied as shown:

Click a tree or rock, or press F for fiber plants.

Turn a raw resource into a refined material. The recipe list has ingredients and stations.

Claim a chunk, expand territory, and see who may build.

A hex atlas of your region, visited land, and unexplored ground.
The official homepage also names Inscribe. Spell costs and inscription icons are on Spells. Food icons and nourishment are on Food.

Account
Is it free?
Yes. The official FAQ says play is free, with optional donations. Account.
Do I need Discord?
Not to start. Discord is how that FAQ describes friends, parties, towns, and cross-device progress. Account.
Will there be a wipe?
The FAQ says progress saves, and that a later wipe would probably cover builds and the world rather than items. Account.

Asciilands is not Land of ASCII, Asciicker, or Smalland.
